Bespoke, handmade memorial pieces by Jenny Lockhart Jewellery"

"Some pieces of jewellery carry a weight that goes beyond the metal and stone. They hold a person. A moment. A whole life. Memorial jewellery is made for exactly that — for the times when you want to carry someone with you, close and permanent.

I am Jenny Lockhart, a jeweller based in Edinburgh, and memorial work is among the most meaningful I do. Each piece is made by hand, individually designed, and uniquely yours. There is no catalogue to choose from, no standard template. We talk, I listen, and together we create something that feels right for you and the person you are honouring.

"What is memorial jewellery?"

Memorial jewellery is a bespoke piece made to mark a loss — the death of someone you loved, a pregnancy loss, or the passing of a beloved animal companion. It is something tangible to hold onto when grief can feel formless.

People come to me with different needs. Some want a piece that quietly holds a loved one's initial or birthstone. Others want something that speaks more openly — a design that tells a story. Some want to incorporate something physical: a lock of hair, a flower from a funeral, a fragment of fabric from a piece of clothing. If you have an idea, however uncertain or unconventional it feels, I would love to hear it."

"What I can make for you"

"Every memorial commission begins with a conversation, so the piece that results is as individual as the person it remembers. Some of the things I have made for clients include:

  • Sterling silver rings, pendants, and earrings set with a loved one's birthstone

  • Handmade stone incorporating a lock of hair or ashes.

  • Handmade keepsakes, little pocket hearts or pebbles.

  • Pieces with personalised engraving — a name, a date, a short phrase that mattered.

  • Pet memorial pieces to honour an animal companion

All pieces are made in sterling silver, and I can work in gold vermeil where that suits what you have in mind. Every commission is individually quoted — there is no set price list, because no two pieces are the same."

"There is no pressure and no rush. The process is gentle and entirely led by you.

  1. Get in touch — send me a message through the contact form or by email, telling me a little about who the piece is for and what you have in mind. There is no wrong way to start this conversation.

  2. We talk it through — I will reply and we can take the time to discuss what feels right. I will guide you through colour combinations, pigmentation options, and textures, and share ideas and sketches until the design is something you are truly happy with.

  3. I make your piece — once we have agreed on the design and you are happy with the quote, I begin work. Each piece is handmade by me in Edinburgh.

  4. Your piece arrives — I package and post every order with care, and am happy to ship across Scotland and the Uk."*

"Based in Edinburgh, available everywhere in the UK."

"My studio is in Edinburgh, and most of my commissions come through by message and email — so wherever you are in Scotland, the UK, or further afield, we can work together. If you are in Edinburgh and would prefer to meet in person to talk through your commission, that can be arranged too."

"Start the conversation"

"If you are thinking about a memorial piece — even if the idea is still vague or you are not sure yet what you want — please do get in touch. I will be honest with you about what is possible and take as much time as you need."
